TCYC Artistic Director, Ann Wingert-Williams
Mrs. Wingert-Williams is a native of the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis. She holds a BA in Elementary Education and Music Education from the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, MN, as well as a choral Master of Arts Degree from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN.
In addition to her role as Twin Cities Youth Chorale Artistic Director, Mrs. Wingert-Williams is also noted for having directed the District 279 Children’s Chorus and The American Choral Director’s Association State Elementary Honors Chorus. Choruses under her direction have performed with The Dale Warland Singers and The Minnesota Orchestra.
For thirty-three years, Mrs. Wingert-Williams has served as an elementary vocal music teacher in the Osseo Area Schools. She currently holds memberships in the American Choral Directors Association, and Chorus America. Mrs. Wingert-Williams is also serves as a cantor at The Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis, MN.
Debut Choir Artistic Director, Ann Bordonaro
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Bordonaro currently resides in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Cleveland State University, and a Master of Arts in Education from St. Mary’s University of the Twin Cities. She has taught elementary vocal music in the Osseo Area Schools since 1996.
She has been active in District 279’s Wastebasket Revue since 2005, and has directed the Swingin’ Eds vocal ensemble since 2010. She was also a member of the White Bear Area Choral Association’s Elizabethan Syngers, performing at the MN Renaissance Festival for eight seasons, as well as in the Twin Cities during their holiday seasons. While a member of this ensemble, she acted as the group’s business manager and chaired two artistic director searches.
Mrs. Bordonaro is an active member of her church’s worship ministries, and in their Vacation Bible School’s drama camp.
TCYC Accompanist, Shelly Aebi
Ms Aebi has been a resident of the Twin Cities for over twenty years. Originally from Ohio, she holds a BA in music education and piano from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory in Cleveland Ohio, and earned her Master’s Degree in choral conducting from the University of Minnesota.
Ms. Aebi has vast choral and accompanying experience. Employed full time as the Director of Liturgy at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, she also directs the adult traditional choir and serves as substitute organist. Ms. Aebi founded and directed the Cecilia Chamber Singers, a professional women’s group specializing in sacred music through the ages. CCS recorded two CDs and participated in the Salzburg Music Festival as well. Ms. Aebi has conducted choral trips to Rome, and her highly acclaimed choirs were bestowed the honor of performing for the Pope in his private chapel.
TCYC Debut Choir Accompanist, Alys Nelson
Ms. Nelson has a BA Degree in music and art from Augustana, and a MA Degree in music education from the University of Minnesota. She was a church organist both in high school and in college. After college, she taught music for 40 years, most recently in Maple Grove, MN where she directed and accompanied middle school choirs, ensembles, choral groups such as the Grove Singers, and soloists. During her career, she spent two years as a missionary teaching English, art and music at Balob Teacher’s College in Lae, Papua New Guinea.
Currently Ms. Nelson is the organist and choir accompanist for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, MN. She also is an accompanist for Anne’s Dance Studio in Crystal, MN.
Alys enjoys spending time with her three sons, John in Phoenix, AZ; James in Oakdale, MN; and Paul in Brooklyn Park, MN; as well as all of her relatives and friends whenever possible!
